Splash Copper

Native Upper Peninsula Michigan copper is used to make these artistic free-form sculptures.  No two are alike and the shapes are open  to many different visual interpretations.  Splash copper is made from pouring molten copper at 2200 degrees onto a flat surface.  When the shapes are cooled, a green or turquoise colored chemical patina is applied, then highlights are buff polished to expose the glowing solid copper underneath.  The sculptures are sprayed to preserve the finish and to prevent the copper from tarnishing.
Specimen shown is specimen for sale.
