This is a three dimensional ammonite, nicely sculpted and raised above the rock matrix of which they were carved from. The fossil is polished with added dimple marks on the matrix to complete its beautiful detail. Devonian age, North Africa. Another large specimen measuring 4.5 inches. Excellent chamber detail! An impressive fossil.
