Blastoids!
These Pentremites are often called 'Blastoids' . They are extinct echinoderms with living
relatives including; starfish, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and brittle stars. They attached
themselves to the bottom of the sea floor with thin stems. Mississippian in age, they
lived 320 to 360 million years ago. They have been beautifully prepped and many of
them are accompanied by other fossils on the same matrix.

Classic
This specimen sits on a nice 2 by 3 Inch matrix and is nearly
perfectly "framed" by surrogate rock. Its a beauty!

Black Bart: This blastoid is a very dark
gray as is the matrix it is on. Unidentified species, location of where it was
collected and age. It measures 7/8ths inch long on a triangle shaped matrix roughly

Tres Virgos
Three Pentremites blastoids on the gray shale of the Ridenhower
formation. The largest is 3/4 inches long. Mississippian
age, collected at Millstadt IL. The matrix is approx. 3.5 by 3
inches
